Trimble Scan Explorer modeling in SketchUp Pro
Just a couple examples of modeling in SketchUp Pro with Trimble Scan Explorer, which the SketchUp Pro interoperability has now also been added into Trimble RealWorks v9.0. In the building example we were able to really benefit from the 3D Warehouse for things like the lights and the theater seats. Would be curious to see some other examples of models created from point cloud data in SketchUp.

Re: Trimble Scan Explorer modeling in SketchUp Pro
Hi Jason
I am ready to send you all kinds of 3d model done with the Trimble scan explorer plugin for SKETCHUP as soon as I find a way to import files other than the *.rwp files since I do not have the REALWORKS software. I have succeeded in converting all kinds of *.obj files in *.e57 files with CLOUDCOMPARE but I get always the same error message which says that the *.e57 file could not be converted...Same error messages with *.fls files. I have not tried the other format like : tzf, ptx, zfs, rsp of tzs because I do not have the possibility of converting files to these format. Why is it that prevents the Trimble scan explorer to convert those files...
Best regards
Pierre Bonnet

Re: Trimble Scan Explorer modeling in SketchUp Pro
Hello Jason,
Are you directly using Trimble tool to model in Sketchup, I found it very difficult to use in Trimble Realworks, when you get a line or a point, they are not alwayse on the same plane, very frustrating. Could you please share some idea on how to solve the problem?
Thanks,
