Hi All
Currently completing several projects capturing road corridor data - pavements, kerb and powerlines/ lighting poles etc. All scans are being conducted from observed survey control - including spheres and to date the data is excellent. However, the data on the overhead cables is very limited unless directly underneath. We are using Faro S150+, outdoor 20... (4x, 1/4) - scans are being done of a night in good conditions.
I'm finding it hard to find any good information on the "Clear Sky/ Clear Contour" and their impact on fine objects.
Any advice or suggestions will be appreciated.

Re: Settings for Capture of overhead powerlines
You might want to disable all filtering steps. While scanning and processing.
You also might want to enable the "Far Distances" scan option.
Regarding "Clear Sky/ Clear Contour" taken from the manual page51:
Clear Contour - Enables the dynamic contour filter. This hardware filter removes scan points resulting from hitting two objects with the laser spot, which mainly happens at the edges of objects.
Clear Sky - Enables the dynamic sky filter. During scanning, this hardware filter will remove scan points resulting from scanning empty spaces in the sky.

Kind regards

Thanks Raimund
We will try turning the filters off. I have previously used the C10 with no issues, wondering if this is a specific issue with Faro?

See my post in this forum. I did a project regarding powerlines. One important thing is to turn off edge artifact filters
Hope this helps

Sadly the results are still limited - I'm not sure if the phase shift is less effective than the TOF for these surveys.
