I think scene does a good job and use it daily. However you can use Cyclone as well to process and register FLS files.

If you are using Faro S series laser scanner then go with Scene or Realworks because both of them can read and apply Faro S or X series inclinometer data. Cyclone can no do this with Faro scanners so your scans will be unleveled. However, I know there is walkaround with Cyclone for this but for this type of scanner I would choose Scene or Realworks software.

I understand that this is no longer true and that the latest release of Cyclone CAN read Faro inclinometer data. I haven't seen it for myself but have had it confirmed by SCCS in the UK.

Since you are a Faro distributor and your main selling point is to sell the scanner (the software is just a nice bonus for you), you should look at something which is very easy to handle and will give your customer a complete workflow, rather than leaving him with the point cloud.Abdelkareem wrote: ↑Tue Mar 17, 2020 11:42 am Hi Guys

With PointCab you can show the registration done in Scene or in PointCab itself (when done in Scene you can import the lsprj file into PointCab) and wrap your presentation up by generating some layouts/sections/linework and open that via dwg/dxf in the CAD software of your customer.
If they are using Autodesk products you could export the point cloud from Scene as a rcp file, so they can load that into Autocad/ReCap.

Hi!
We nowadays have the ability to offer 3-months and 12-months subscription of Faro SCENE. Its a great way to optimize and ensure low-cost software if you have a short-term project and would like to have the software as an little overhead cost. If you are using Focus-scanners the advantage and quality will be aligned in a best possible way using SCENE.

PS: We also offer subscription-based licenses on most of our softwares like BuildIT! and As Built softwares.

Using SCENE gives you the best advantage especially if your using onsite registration with your tablet or laptop. This is the fastest workflow in the industry as it allows you to fully process and register your scans on the fly and leave the site with a fully ready data set. Depending on where your client takes the data, they can directly export to Recap or Microstation (.pod) and begin extraction. If they are doing analysis they can open the Scene project file directly into BuildIT Construction.Abdelkareem wrote: ↑Tue Mar 17, 2020 11:42 am Hi Guys

Re: Post processing Software for Faro S 3D Scanner
I see the Faro reps are out in full force this morning.
To get more helpful answers you might need to expand a little on what you mean by post-processing as that can mean a lot of different things to different people.
Scene is fine for what it is, very basic registration and data interrogation. It is pretty fast for ingesting and roughly aligning scans, however, depending on your tolerances and requirements it may not offer enough control over the process. More than a few of us use it as a preprocessing step before taking the scans in to another software to finish alignments. Admittedly, this approach is much less appealing now that Faro doesn't include a license with their scanners.
There are a few software options out there that will work, so just because you have Faro hardware don't feel like you need to use their software if it doesn't do what you need.

I can attest to this. I love Rithm and BuildIT.Laser Scan Slawny wrote: ↑Thu Mar 19, 2020 1:27 pmUsing SCENE gives you the best advantage especially if your using onsite registration with your tablet or laptop. Also, not sure who your client is or what your deliverable is going to be but with Scene you can add on a FARO Webshare-Cloud subscription and that is an absolute game changer right now in my company.
