Been doing a lot of plenum scanning. But the data just isn't great, mainly due to the excessive noise. Below screenshot is from RECAP. This is looking down on a fluorescent light fixture (ceiling mounted).
Is there a good filtering option for cleaning up this sort of data spray? Currently running Scene 5.2

Hi Dan,
Have you tried using the SOR filter in CloudCompare?

Have not tried Cloud Compare. Is it conducive to running on 150+ scans?

tbh I'm not sure if you can batch process 150 scans through CloudCompare GUI, but I think you can run CloudCompare in command line mode, so it maybe possible... when I get five I will take a look for you.

Hi Dan,
it might be a little beyond Recap (Idk) but I woud suggest you need to crank up the 'Mixed Pixel' filter. LaserControl is pretty good at this but Cyclone and I assume Cloud Compare also.
Richard.

Can Cyclone clean this up autonomously? I can export FARO --> e57 --> Cyclone for cleanup --> e57 --> RECAP.
I guess I'm down one step vs. 5 years ago??

Re: Cleaning up data spray at ceiling mounted light fixtures
Probably not. In Cyclone Navigator there's an important feature in the 'Edit(?)' pull-down called something like "Phase Based Scanner Import Filter Options', or similar, here you can set pretty good filters that can do a great job of cleaning up scans on import(IF you apply their values correctly). However this only works (as far as I'm aware) when importing raw scans from a narrow range of scanners (Leica HDS6xxx and HDS7000 plus z+f equivalents) so no Faro and no e57..
Anyone know if Cyclone can apply filters to imported data from other formats? I can't think and don't have Cyclone with me.
Richard.

In scene you can check Liber-d plugin. Check the comments in the forum, it looks like a killer app.
As an alternative export the fls files, import in recap and set filter to medium or aggressive, export back..
A check with you dataset will help to see if they are offering what you expect.
