Re: RiALITY
We created the RiALITY file from part of 25 scan positions (8 scan positions, 93 million points reduced to 2.4 million points) using the export of Riscan Pro 1.8.0 to generate the *.rqx files. Although you can tell the difference
between Riscan Pro with 93 million points and RiALITY with 2.4 million points, Riegl has done a good job at masking the differences.

Re: RiALITY
Sounds like I'll be heading off to the bosses office with cap in hand. Again! I can think of some great applications for this deliverable: members of the jury, would you like to take up your iPads, look around the scene here with the scene at the time of the crash on display...

Re: RiALITY
An additional feature that was pointed out by the Riegl folks (Ananda Fowler) in Horn, Autstria. If you use the last page of the user guide (standard reference pdf) or the pdf file below, you can view the AR mode using you own scanned point clouds that have been imported into the iPAD.
One of the interesting features is the larger the standard reference image, the larger the AR image on the iPAD. With that in mind, I used my new Apple Mac Pro(late 2013) with our 50 inch SONY TV (in the jpg image) to generate the AR image in this post, which covers more than the iPAD screen.

Re: RiALITY
Hi Guys,
When are Riegl going to finish this app?
We need to be able to view the image over our own plans. Viewing over the Riegl logo is no use, you may as well create an animation. My clients would love this app, at their meetings, with their CAD plans on the board room table.
Come on Riegl you make the best scanners in the world now make the best app.
I love my VZ1000.

Re: AW: RiALITY
Hi,
This is the first version of this app and the very first app for this kind of devices we have made so far. We appreciate feedback like yours to see whether this app is useful and where it needs to be changed.
There is a simple reason you can't use your own reference images in this version and this is licensing. We wanted to provide the app for free and that was one of the tradeoffs.
But we definitely noted your request and I forwarded it to the project manager.
Thanks for your feedback!
Christian

Re: RiALITY
Hi,
Just stumbled on this thread. Is this app still available? Never heard of it and do not seem to find much about it.

Re: RiALITY
Hi beuckx,
The app was pretty advanced at the time it was released.
It enabled you to export point clouds from RSP and view them on an iPad two ways:
1. In 3D, as you would expect
2. In AR, where you had to use a printed QR code for mapping onto a surface.
Support for the app died for internal reasons, but it is a shame because the development had a lot of directions it could have gone...
There are plenty of alternatives that do a better job now, you just need to export a decimated pointcloud in the proper format.
Apple has made it a lot easier, and it shouldn't take much to make your own app at this point:

Thanks for the reminder that the demonstration we did was over 7+ years ago. Things like that happen when the "good guys" leave and too many of the others remain.
