Temptations like that are always the risk of going to these shows You certainly seem to have had great value from your current Riegl unit.landmeterbeuckx wrote: ↑Thu Oct 20, 2022 7:42 am I saw the kit yesterday and it is tempting for sure.
Much lighter
Smaller design
Battery case to charge 6 batteries
Pictures taken without external camera
L1 integrated, L1/L2 can be placed on top
....
30 second scans, can't beat that.

Indeed it looks a very impressive piece of kit and look forward to seeing some sample data...

Re: RIEGL VZ600i
Delivery time at the moment is 1st quarter of 2023, pricing is not fixed yet. Will be between VZ-400i and VZ-2000i.
If there are concerns about the overhead scans (incidentally, this also applies to the underlying areas for others), I can only report from the experience of many customers that the proportion of such rare cases where this cannot be compensated for extremely efficiently is a completely negligible factor due to the speed and accuracy of the registration method and scanning speed. I do not mean to say that there are not projects where overhead scanning is necessary to a large extent, but those who only have such projects they will and should also be happy with the appropriate scanner. But if you have projects with many hundreds of scan positions or more, three factors are the most important - scan speed, accuracy and postprocessing. This brings us to the concept we are following.
I can provide sample data - it just depends on what you want to see. Just send us an email and we can give you data in the format you want.

For those that missed the Riegl Webinar today on the VZ600i and software, it was very informative. Just waiting.

Re: RIEGL VZ600i
I've seen lots of cool new features in hardware as in software. They are really expanding Riscan Pro. Very exciting times indeed.

Re: RIEGL VZ600i
This is a really promissing piece of kit. Had the pleasure of being a vz 400i user for some time.
a couple of things people don't seem to acknowledge about the riegl, is the postprosesing, the geosysmanager and the abbility to use reflective targets eliminating error when using survey control with the totalstation.
The next best thing in my opinion is the way the laser works. when working outdoors, you capture multiple frequencies, enabling the ability to capture for example a tree , all of it, branches and leaves, from just about 2 positions. the foilage is penetrated which is really cool.
same goes for bushes along a fasad of building. foilage is penetrated.
geosysmanager is a step ahead of any other provider. they are alone there.
Also the ability to use an external GNSS on top of the scanner, for RTK grade positioning (outdoors) captured simultanously as the the photographing and scanning. This makes the registration sequence so fast. approx. 30 minutes after entering office the registration is finished. then add survey control and your on pure m.m. accuracy.
I agree with Lieuven, this is the best manufacturer out there. hands down.
yes the vz 400i does damage to your back, i'll agree with that. therefore the 6kg weight of the vz 600i is very welcoming.
the internal camera is also welcoming.
the speed is great. but the vz 400i was also great at speed.
capturing targets (reflector tapes) at 70m distance, even greater, only C10 and perhaps P50 can do that on leica targets.
Ripano: another great featureful product to relay to your clients. giving them the ability to work with the pointcloud in a different but perhaps more ideal manner. (not everybody works in 3D... unfortunalty)
Sure file sizes can be extensive, but with riscanpro, you controll the filtering settings, and trust me there are hundreds of ways to filter out unnecessary points, which in turn decimates your pointcloud to only that, that is of interest to you.
Best
Peder
