Cyclone Register 360 - Requested Features

Post by andrewfoss01 »

I hope that there are some developers for Cyclone Register 360 that monitor this forum. I have several feature requests I would like to see in future releases of this software. I’m sure there is others that would agree or would like to add their own feature requests.

1. Better Point Filtering Tools. Filter Points by intensity, colour, etc. To be used for visual purposes, or for deleting/cleaning points.
2. Faster Cleaning/Deleting of points. Currently too slow to be useful or feasible
3. Cleaning of Points Based on Noise Filtering. Cyclone 3DR has good cleaning tools to remove noisy data. Would be nice if Register 360 had something similar
4. Multi-Level Scans workflow. Would like to see a better workflow to creating sitemaps for projects that have several levels. One sitemap makes it difficult to visualize the different scans on different levels from a plan view.
a. Perhaps scan stations can be marked into a group. Each group can be assigned a different colour and scan station markers will be assigned that colour. Groups can then be turned on or off
b. When exported to a Jetstream or LGS project file, and when opened in Jetstream Viewer, user should have the ability to open different map views for different levels

5. Exporting only select scans. Currently there is no option to only export on select scans, only the whole project. User should be able to select only needed scan stations either from a list or a map view for export.
6. Reduce the size of the station markers on screen.
7. Reduce the number of points visible on screen. Similar to Cyclone (100%/75%/50%/25%)
8. Reduce the size of points on the screen.
9. Unify a point Cloud. Feature that was available in Cyclone. Create one single point cloud file that is unified to specific spacing for eliminating duplicate data and reducing file sizes
10. Registration on Control Points Based on Geometry of points. This is an option on Cyclone as well as Faro Scene. Program should be smart enough to align scan stations with target locations to control points based on similar geometry without the need to name the targets the same on the control file.

Hey Andrew,

Some nice requests in there, I'm pretty sure a few of these will be in the pipeline already. I can probably point you in the right direction on a few of them though. I wouldn't expect to see too much of points 1-3 in Reg360, like you mention these are already there in C3DR and adding that functionality in Reg360 would double up the functionality in the suite and undoubtedly make Reg360 more expensive, whereas I think it sits at a pretty good price point at the moment!

With your Multi level scan workflow (point 4) have you tried moving your levels onto separate sitemaps in the Review & Optimize stage and then creating a master sitemap in the Finalize stage? That would give you the opportunity to split your separate sitemaps out into a master site map and click through into the individuals in JetStream Viewer/Truview etc. See link below:

https://globalsurvey.truview-cloud.com/ ... ab=sitemap

Have a look in the help file (F1) at the sitemaps section.

Similar to this, if you split your scans onto separate sitemaps, you can then select individual sitemaps to export instead of the whole project (your point 5) meaning that you can select just the scans you want, move them over and export only them.

Points 6 through 10 would be pretty good :D
Regards,

Tim

1. Better Point Filtering Tools. Filter Points by intensity, colour, etc. To be used for visual purposes, or for deleting/cleaning points. *YEP
2. Faster Cleaning/Deleting of points. Currently too slow to be useful or feasible * YEP, averaging 20 sec for every cleaning session, especially when cleaning both visible and C2C, poor DB write speed
3. Cleaning of Points Based on Noise Filtering. Cyclone 3DR has good cleaning tools to remove noisy data. Would be nice if Register 360 had something similar * Can remove mixed pixel and spray by settings on import not sure thats the same thing
4. Multi-Level Scans workflow. Would like to see a better workflow to creating sitemaps for projects that have several levels. One sitemap makes it difficult to visualize the different scans on different levels from a plan view. * YEP, need a sitemap navigator to quickly switch between sitemaps (Floors, etc) in the plan view
a. Perhaps scan stations can be marked into a group. Each group can be assigned a different colour and scan station markers will be assigned that colour. Groups can then be turned on or off YEP, *Take a hint from the Region Groups in Recap (if they ever worked correctly!
b. When exported to a Jetstream or LGS project file, and when opened in Jetstream Viewer, user should have the ability to open different map views for different levels
*YES, was surprised that this wasn't so the first time we exported multiple Sitemaps tied to the same control
5. Exporting only select scans. Currently there is no option to only export on select scans, only the whole project. User should be able to select only needed scan stations either from a list or a map view for export.-* You can export a Bundle which could be in a different Sitemap than the rest of your project
6. Reduce the size of the station markers on screen. *(Allow you to customize size with slider
7. Reduce the number of points visible on screen. Similar to Cyclone (100%/75%/50%/25%)
8. Reduce the size of points on the screen.
9. Unify a point Cloud. Feature that was available in Cyclone. Create one single point cloud file that is unified to specific spacing for eliminating duplicate data and reducing file sizes - *PTS is unified correct? and RCP? But not to Jetstream- you're correct. Should be able to reduce the size on export even if it isn't unified
10. Registration on Control Points Based on Geometry of points. This is an option on Cyclone as well as Faro Scene. Program should be smart enough to align scan stations with target locations to control points based on similar geometry without the need to name the targets the same on the control file.

It would be great to have support for the Pxx series.

What Kind of Support? Traversing? We've never used that .Have found that multiple targets and resection produces tighter results
We've used the P-series with Named target scans in the field. Although the DETAILED target scans do not show up-the REG 360 auto-extraction does work on the RAW P series data and LABELED vertices are shown when import is complete. It also extracts other targets (Sometimes erroneously ,especially on overhead wires, can't figure out why).
This intersection imported in 30 min (3 min scans with non-HDR images

Sorry I should have been clear. Support for PXX series on Field360 rather than Register. It would be useful when doing C2C such as floor plans to have a rough registration visible on an iPad when doing building internals for example. Obviously there is no VIS tech on the PXX series however performing a quick manual translate, rotate and then align would be very handy. Is PXX series inhibited by its OS to communicate effectively with Field 360?

Having hired a RTC360 this week for internals the usefulness of the Field360 was great for queries regarding voids etc.
