Hi,
has anyone tried to find any other solution for HDS Targets? They are very useful for us and we'd like to have more than 6 pieces.
But the price for new set is horrible. We're looking for something similar but cheaper. I know we can print stickers, but they're very inconvenient for us.

Re: HDS Targets alternative
You could try to use spheres. They are cheaper with more alternatives on the market now. Spheres do have some limitations (depending on type of work) but they are very convenient to work with - you don't need to face them toward scanner all the time like it has to be done with HDS targets.

Just curious as to why using targets are important to you for your project?

Re: HDS Targets alternative
I have seen some photos of people printing targets them then sticking on to wooden boards.
Spheres take up a bit too much room for carrying a case on site along with all your other kit.
HDS are pricey but you know what your getting with them.
Some jobs are just a lot easier with targets, especially more rural jobs that may have several spread out buildings plus a large topo area! And they are good for splitting up jobs to keep all the projects on the same control file rather than a control scan thats popped for c2c.

Re: HDS Targets alternative
Genearlly we use it to reference point cloud in external coordinate system. All targets are being measured by total station. Also I believe I get better results with targets. Even C2C is correct, I have something to control it.
Thanks for answer gys. Actually I hoped there is a manufacter, who produces similar targets to leica's, but with less price.
It seems we have to stay with printed stickers...

If you are not familiar with my products, I have a variety of target spheres, as well as some pretty nice travel targets, that you may be interested in. I offer discounts to LSF members, but you need to email me directly to get the discount. I have a couple new products that we will be announcing shortly at lower price points, plus we are in the testing and evaluation stage of some new ideas that may also interest you if you like to use spheres in combination with existing ground-based control points - I'm just trying to build up some inventory so we are ready to ship.
Please email me if you have any interest - Thanks! Tad
