Extract BLK360 panoramic images?

Post by greg_at_ppm »

I'm hoping someone out there has a workaround to allow a user to extract the 360 imagery gathered by the BLK360 to be used in more generic panoramic image viewers or for posting online. While the 360 views look good enough in Recap and Register 360, we can't share those 360 views with clients unless they have said software and most of our clients don't. Ideally, we'd like to be able to host these images online for ease of sharing or point them toward a free 360 viewer to take a look, but we can't seem to find a way to get that image data out of either Recap or Register 360.

Am I missing something or is there a "hack" that can achieve this result? Ideally, I'd prefer to avoid any potential subscription based services that Leica might have for hosting these types of images.

We have a good solution or "hack" for this exact purpose but it's through Scene. If going through Scene is an option, if only for this purpose, let me know and I'll provide you steps.

We provide 360 images for viewing in Theta, Bluebeam or Facebook etc.

Hey Greg,

Typically the deliverable that you are describing is exactly what TruView does. It allows your clients to view the panoramic images on the web, from anywhere in the world. These TruView datasets can also be embedded into a website if you'd like. If

If you'd like to avoid the TruView subscription, you can also give your clients the entire cloud in a Jetstream file. It would require you to have a Jetstream Publisher license, but your client can fly through the cloud and view the panoramic images in the free Jetstream Viewer.

There is a backdoor way to find the raw images, if that is what you are looking for.

If you scan (or sync your scans) with the BLK360 App, you can get them using iTunes. Plug your iPad into the computer and open iTunes. If you click on your device (iPad) in iTunes, there will be 'File Sharing" in the left-hand side menu. Click on "File Sharing" and choose the BLK360 App. In this app, you'll see any deliverables that you've created, along with folders named with a long string of letters and numbers. Each of these are projects that you have in the app. You can select them, and download them onto your computer. In these files, you'll find the individual raw images, along with the panoramic image and the panoramic thermo-image.

Let me know if this is what you're looking for.

With the Recap Mobile app I often had panoramic images with problems (double images viewtopic.php?f=46&t=13024)
I tried your solution to try to see if the problems were in the initial images or if it was RecapMobile that was wrong in the revenue.
I managed to download * .png files on the pc! Great ! :D
..and I noticed that the single images or even the general overview have no problems (so the error is i n RecapMibile)
However, the overall panoramic image is correct. The individual images are as seen in the mirror

Thanks, Andrew!! That solution worked great. Even though it's not a streamlined workflow, it's with a free Leica app which makes it worth it for now. I've already submitted this as a feature enhancement for Cyclone Register 360 to my Leica support rep. It would be nice to have this feature available in the new flagship software for use with the BLKs, considering the price tag for that software. Thanks again for helping out with this work around. I'm really looking forward to the continued software progress to help streamline these workflows for us!

We use SCAN2FX to export the panoramas in bulk:
http://scan2fx.com/?id=scan2fx_exporter_for_mari
Or to get cube maps with exporter for Maya.
They also export coordinates to position in Unreal/Unity.

Anyone who has a Autodesk Login should be able to access the imagery-along with markup labeling capability through Recap WebApp. Anyone can sign up for a Autodesk Login and then you can share it with them, or share it publicly as a public link. Good morning all,

I am also looking for a way to recover 360 ° photos from BLK and RTC.
Since time have you managed to find a solution?
It seems like a well-kept function.
Too bad because it is very convenient to share with images with end customers.

I'm going back to looking this weekend.
