Re: New Leica Scanner?
Strictly I am under an "NDA" of sorts about these topics and cannot disclose the data, but just thought I would give you a brief 'feel' of the data I saw being collected and processed last week.
The unit was VERY fast, that was the first thing to note and it was incredibly quiet. What was also apparent is that the process from collection to view-able cloud was very quick too. Everything seems to have been nicely optimised.
We did a direct comparison against the P-series and whilst the data of the BLK360 is a obviously more noisy (the P-series is exceptional) it handles most surfaces very well. The data we collected was all within short range, so I have no comment on longer range performance. However, based on the main applications I expect the product to be sold for, it is perfectly good data which is more than fit for purpose.
As soon as I am allowed to say more, I will.

Re: New Leica Scanner?
Is this right? swarm-scan with multiple BLK360`s?The BLK360 is controlled via the new ReCap 360 Pro mobile app running on an iPad Pro. This powerful app allows users to visualize real-time results, swarm-scan with multiple BLK360s, register all scans automatically on-the-fly, share data remotely and transfer into any Autodesk software, Leica Cyclone, 3DReshaper and many other software packages with the standardized E57 file format.

Re: New Leica Scanner?
How soon are we going to see the BLK360 mounted to one of these?
https://www.doublerobotics.com/360.html
And better yet, how soon will this setup allow for autonomous scanning?

Re: New Leica Scanner?
Anything is possible, but from my experience it is not easy. Finding a very nimble robot that has a full VR spherical view in High-res to make the process as quick as a person is the challenge.
I made a reference to double robotics a couple years ago for the same idea, and even conducted my own experiment to see how scanning from a robot would work: https://laserscanningforum.com/forum/vi ... 123&t=8414 Needless to say it is difficult, but possible. The BLK 360 just makes it possible to use lighter robotic platforms like the double. I still wish we had ZebRevo to mount on a little RC to drive around and scan above ceiling tiles
On a similar note we have a very large project coming up soon, where scanning from a robotic platform will dictate the success and safety of the project. I will be sure to share after it is all over.

Yes I heard this from autodesk at AU. IF it works or not, that is another question - but they do intend for this to be a feature.Jason Warren wrote:Is this right? swarm-scan with multiple BLK360`s?The BLK360 is controlled via the new ReCap 360 Pro mobile app running on an iPad Pro. For experienced scan operators, I could see running two BLK360 at once. That would give you a scan rate of ~20-25 scans per hour fully colorized. pretty nifty IMO
