What about a an electronic bubble within recap/Ipad app? Maybe down the line with a firmware/software update...just a shower thought :D

Within the P series, if the scanner is put off level during the scan, it tells you that the scan is "not levelled", is there a warning within recap or on the BLK that the scan has been disrupted...or will that be a surprise when you get back to the office :o ???

Out of interest, what difference would this make to your perception of the "quality" of the data?

Just playing devils advocate here... :)

(Fear not, I am chasing this requirement and a registered dataset from multiple locations also, in various file formats - if allowed).

if the scanner is self leveling, how did the sample data get out of level?

Its self leveling in the same way a faro is "self leveling" its not a mechanical thing, but done by reading the tilt from the sensor and applying the correction in software. a generally leveltripod will get it close enough for the sensor to work accurately.

If you are replying to me, I realize that.
I am asking why the software did not apply the correction.

I suppose they haven't applied it in software then? Even basic tilt sensors are very level. So if it looks crooked to the eye, that would be my assumption.

No "Leveling info" embedded into e57 file structure. Looks like e57 export from source(RECAP?) did not transfer transformation parameters???

Well... since the first sample wasn't levelled I have now some concerns about levelling accuracy.

Paul just got an eMsg from Leica FIRST LOOK: BLK360 and ReCap Pro for mobile that said in part:
Production of BLK360s is underway in our premium factory in Switzerland.
I was just wondering if this means:
1. Leica has some non-premium factory/factories anywhere.
2. what does Leica make in those non-premium locations.
???

All Leica Geosystems scanners are made in Switzerland at the factory in Heerbrugg - it's premium for sure, but I am not sure why they called it out here - that's just marketeers for you.

Back to the earlier topic:

Level information is provided by sub-degree accuracy IMU (It is not a dual-axis compensator as per the ScanStation product line).

Tilt information is not applied to the measurements right away, it comes in as additional information and the processing software needs to apply it correctly.

Hope this helps.
