Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for doing a volume calc on a stock pile... I know Cyclone can do a calc on a flat surface, but I need to do this on a base surface which is not flat... At the minute we're using a CAD plug in, but I'm having to dumb down the point cloud in order for it to work, which defeats the object of using a laser scanner.
Any recommendations welcome and greatly appreciated.

cut out the stock pile and create a mesh around its base.
then compare the 2 meshes rather than the volume to a plane.

Re: Volume Calc on non flat surface
Thanks for the tip Tim. It's an existing grid of levels that we need to use. I suppose, I could import the levels and create a mesh first to establish the volume without any stock. Is that possible in Cyclone?
Thanks again,

Yep - just select all the vertex and then mesh those.
Then just use the measure tin volume with the 2 selected.

Hi, you can use CloudCompare, only cut the ground points, make a mesh and compare it

Sorry for the late reply.
Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll give it a go on in Cyclone first and also CloudCompare.
