Registration Software Recomendation

Post by MarcinG »

Hi everyone!

I'm preparing myself to invest into registration software. As it will be my first point cloud post processing program I'm not really sure what features should I look for. I've checked lots of options and Arena4d seems to be most reasonable and cost-efficient solution (99£ + VAT in monthly instalment).

What do you think about my choice? Maybe there is a better/different solution? What software package are you using? I'm happy to hear your thoughts!

Many thanks.

For the beginning it's looks like OK but also we discussed a little;-) about laser scanning post-processing.

Arena4D does seem like it's very good. The most compelling reason for it would seem to be that it is vendor-neutral. All the other major suites are largely tied to whatever scanner you are using, and seem to bend over backwards to make it hard to work with scanners from different vendors. I would be interested to hear your feedback on Arena4D if you decide to purchase it.

I can highly recommend Scene if you have a Faro scanner, but that's a no-brainer, of course.

I have Faro and use Scene to register the scans, so I have no experience with Arena registration, but at the Rhino Days a group showed the following workflow:
Scan
register scans in Arena Studio
Import in Rhino and use Arena plugin + Visualarq to create the model of the building and the deliverables

The results were very nice.

ʎpɹnɔɔɯ_uɐp You're right, being vendor-neutral is Arena4D biggest advantage.

max72 , tomii7 Many thanks for your thoughts!

I've spoken with my local Arena4D retailer and they've offered me free product presentation. Nothing's better than see how software works in real life.

Cheers!
