INTERGEO 2018 FRANKFURT

Post by dhirota »

I decided to be better organized for InterGeo 2018 to be held in Frankfurt, Germany October 16 through 18. Hopefully there will be a bunch of small sensors that really work like they say they will and software for better visualization and measurement.

Decided to get my reservations, especially airline tickets since last year the lowest priced United Airlines round trip ticket from HNL to FRA round trip was more than US$3,500 economy and US$14,000 business class. I started tracking the fares about a month ago and figured that US$1,800 was a low as I would see them, but last week they for some reason dropped to US$1,500 and we picked them up.

Riegl will be celebrating their 40th Anniversary at InterGeo 2018, so it is important to be there to help them celebrate.

Great to see you making the trip anyhow!

It depends on the time of year of the flight, what airline, when you make the reservation, how you make the reservation, is the hotel and car tied into the airline reservation and about a million more factors unknown to everyone.

When you travel 12 time zones on two flights flying east from HNL to FRA,it probably could be less gracious than flying west, but pretty much the same distance (half way around the world), but significantly more complex (I have done it many times both ways to Germany from HNL) but significantly more gracious.

Here is the United Airlines example MCO to FRA, checked out today

Sat Oct 13, 2018 UA9054 non-stop 9 hours, economy $3,347, business $10K round trip for INTERGEO 2018

Friday Oct 12, 2018 UA2142 one-stop 17 hours economy $1,482, business $10K round trip INTERGEO 2018

Sat April 7, 2018 UA725 one-stop 18 hours economy $3,042, business $10K round trip

Many have said reservations on Lufthansa from Germany to USA a cheaper deal than USA to Germany?

One of the reasons I fly United Airlines is that I have almost 2M miles and have two Premier Gold cards for life, which makes life easier at 40,000 foot elevation and 600 mph for 11 hours even in economy plus.

Lots of interesting things happening in one month (HXGN LIVE), two months (ESRI UC) and five months (INTERGEO 2018).

Dan and I received another invitation to visit Bavaria early before InterGeo 2018, so we are leaving on Tuesday, Oct 9 from HNL and arriving in MUC on Wednesday, October 10, 20+ hours, 3 flights. The change will cost a few United $, but for 3 days seeing new technology, significant major projects and meeting world wide major potential clients to describe them is worth the trip. The current trip is now US$3,200 round trip each, so I am glad that I made the change a month a ago.

May have time Friday or Saturday to see LSF people in Munich if we have time. Please send me an email.

I will be in Frankfurt to attend InterGeo 2018 in about a month.

One of my questions to software vendors there, is their software running on a AMD Ryzen system? Is it faster?
