Hi gaz_ball,
Welcome to the forum.
As mentioned in my other post today, I am looking for some help with workflow for the HDS6000 or 6100 for offshore projects. Any help you can give me would really usefull.

Re: Techsurv Ltd
Hi Matt,
Thanks for the welcome. The majority of our work is still using total station instruments but we do make use of the scanner (not as much as we would like to though, tbh!) for offshore surveys - we are really trying to push our clients to at least sample what it can do! Our usual 'run of the mill' scope of work for an offshore survey is for replacement piping/structural work although we do get involved with larger scale projects as well. We would use the scanner to gather as-built data (either leaving as point cloud data or model key features/structures in). We would then either export to CloudWorx and, in conjunction with an existing proposed AutoCAD model, do a clash check or use the scan data to help us create a proposed routing.
Is this enough detail for you? Let me know if you need more information!
As a company we're really trying to expand the areas in which we can offer the scanner as a solution, ideally further than the oil & gas industry but we don't seem to be having a lot of success!
Gaz

Gaz,
Any information is of great use, no matter what it may be.
The fact that you are already doing offshore work is good, and I hope that you are able to push into other new areas. Its the other way round for us, we have done so many onshore projects that it is hard to count them, I can count offshore on one hand.
My advice with succsess is keep pushing. Laser scanning has come a very long way in the last few years and it is a delicate time right now, but remember that the hour before dawn is the darkest.
