New account registration issues?
I was speaking to a colleague today and he mentioned he had tried to register an account here a few weeks ago but never received any confirmation or login info. I was just wondering if there have been any known issues with account registration recently.

Re: New account registration issues?
my registration goes well and was done in about one week, but I can't post in any forum. All Posts have to be "approved by admin" but no one cares about..

Re: New account registration issues?
Hi,
We have some new(ish) measures in place to try and combat the amount of spam registrations we get on a daily basis.
To register you cant use a generic email like gmail or Hotmail as we get lots of spam bots using these to try and create spam posts. If you can only use one of these we ask you to email us and we will add your genuine email address to the approved list.
Also if you're a new member then first posts will need to be approved. This will prevent a spam bot making 100s of spam posts if one slips through the net. If this happens then the board will be very quickly flooded with posts not related to laser scanning.
Sorry for the inconvenience but this is the only way to get true members activated and posting.
Thanks,
Phil

Re: New account registration issues?
Thanks Phil, keep fighting the good fight. Restricting gmail etc. accounts does seem a little harsh though as they are probably the most common for personal accounts these days.
