Getting a point cloud onto a webpage

Post by JNally »

Good day all,

Has anyone had any success in finding a way to embed a point cloud onto a webpage ?
Id like to put a few samples on my website but its proving difficult enough to make an interactive point cloud that I can have in a viewer and embed onto the page.

Can anyone point me in the right direction ?

Thanks alot

You can look at WebShare Cloud which is a commercial software that offers point cloud viewing (and many other things) in WebGL browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer 11 or newer).

Example:
https://websharecloud.com/?v=pv&t=p:def ... &p=funpark
https://websharecloud.com/?v=pv&t=p:def ... ychurch-v2

A free alternative is potree. You can use the forum search as there has been several discussions about it.

JWFARO,

Thanks for the reply, I am currently using potree and am happy with it, im just trying to find a way to have it embed onto a webpage rather than it being its own page if you get what I mean. Im sure there is a solution I just need to look harder :)

Search for iframes. This is a way to embed a complete website into another. The following code embeds WebShare Cloud as a 800x600 iframe:

Code: Select all

<iframe src="https://websharecloud.com/?v=ps&t=p:default,c:projectselector,m:t&ps=ps1&ps1=" width="800" height="600" frameborder="0"></iframe>

Thanks Vislaw for mentioning us! It's really simpler than ever to have your datasets online with Pointscene solution.

When you sign in and upload your dataset, you automagically get an iframe code to embed the scene to your website, see an example here: https://pointscene.com/embed-example/

It's free to sign up and upload public 3D pointcloud scenes up to 50M points per scene. (LAS/LAZ formats currently supported, more to follow soon....like E57, panoramic images, DXF, 3D OBJ)

All new users get a free 14-day trial upon activation. This automatic trial activation feature was just added few days ago, so if you have registered earlier and haven't activated your trial, please send an email to me ([email protected]) and let's get you started.
