SCENE WebShare Cloud - Question about working with not-FARO laser scanners
Hi guys,
My company is considering using WebShare cloud as a communication tool between teams overseas. The demo looks like exactly what we need.
The main question is if it is possible to upload Laser Scans data + Panoramic images from any laser scanner device or we should find contractors who work with FARO Laser Scanner devices only?
If the answer for that is that the only way to go is using FARO Laser Scanner devices, is it a common thing to ask contractors to use a specific device to do the work?
We've worked with one contractor that worked with Leica scanner and they sent us PTS/E57 files. I've tried to import both of them to FARO SCENE and the panoramas (which are very important for us) are not exists. I might have missed something in SCENE since i'm new to this software.
Thanks in advance.

If you are interested in sharing point clouds you can also try Voxxlr.com. Here is a link to a scan containing 300 million points, uploaded as a .e57 file (best viewed in Chrome or FireFox):
http://www.voxxlr.com/1493341354190
It does not support the Panoramic images though.

Your best bet is to ask the contractor for their version of Webshare cloud to be honest. We use Faro and therefore offer webshare cloud to many of our clients.
However, Leica has a similar software. Tru View

Re: SCENE WebShare Cloud - Question about working with not-FARO laser scanners
Make sure the e57 files actually contain ordered row/column scan data. If that is the case you should be able to open a planar view in SCENE and also export the panoramas to WebShare Cloud.
If your e57 files are unstructured and can only be viewed in the 3D View, you have an option in SCENE to create "Virtual Scans" at any position. THis will simulate a scan, creating ordered row column data for the given position. These virtual scans can be exported to WebShare Cloud as well.

it's possible that your contractor didn't export the 357 containing the images corectly

Thank you all for the replies.
Good idea, I will try to contact the contractor and check about it.
Thanks. Panoramas are very important for us and it looks like SCENE WebShare cloud has everything we need.jochenstier wrote: ↑Mon Jun 26, 2017 5:43 pm If you are interested in sharing point clouds you can also try Voxxlr.com. Re: SCENE WebShare Cloud - Question about working with not-FARO laser scanners
I combine C10 data with FARO and export the Webshare Cloud data. It is pretty straightforward with the e57 files from Leica Cyclone Export...
