Multi-clipping export on ScanSap

Post by scankukai »

Hi,

Here's a video about our work in progress multi-clipping boxes export feature.
You can create dozens of boxes and export them simultaneously.
You can export a merged file, or you can create one file / scan.
Clipping can show either the interior or the exterior.

For now, we export in e57. We will investigate rcs / rcp soon.

It looks like this tool can create segmented section views?--a common feature in traditional architectural drawings, but not possible in all of the clipping boxes tools I've looked at. If this is the case--excellent news! Perhaps you could demonstrate this ability in a future video. Please think about developing simple annotation symbol tools (like the ones I've attached), to use with the section elevations created with your software. Point clouds would be very useful diagnostic images on their own (before exporting to CAD/BIM platforms) if cleanly annotated and easily sent via email as 2D deliverables.
Nice!

Absolutely.

It allows you to view / export complex slices that will show only what you want to see. I'll post a screenshot.

Scott,

Here are some screenshots I just did. Scans are showing an appartment.
I created 3 clipping boxes and then did an orthographic screenshot.

Perspective - complete appartment:

I also added some basic tags.

Thank you for these examples of what it can do--very helpful. I imagine that the clipping box color can be changed to allow for different background colors?(yellow works quite well against black, as Scene does when a scan position is selected). I've waited too many years for this valuable way to work with point clouds--well done, France!(CloudCompare, too!)

Yes-that works.
Experiment with the section markers and text to see which colors and sizes seem to work in most situations. Keep it simple. ~S

Or like this:

Indeed we can set a color for:
- all scans (like above),
- each scan,
- each cluster of scans.

We also did a random color calculation (press a hotkey and it will calculate the scan colors):
