LP360 and GIS

Post by GCavers » Wed Nov 21, 2007 9:34 am

Hello all,

Has anyone had any experience with LP360- the LiDAR extension for ArcGIS? I am looking at it for archaeological purposes, so I can integrate point clouds of excavations with small find and sample locations surveyed using a total station. It looks like an efficient way to get point clouds into GIS (with a little tweaking to format the import ascii), but from my experimentation it doesn't seem to handle GIS layers when viewing in 3D. Has anyone got any experience with something similar? Ideally it would be good to integrate interrogable GIS-style datasets with point clouds, but this still seems a tricky compromise process...
