Boring video, but....

Post by scankukai »

This is probably the most boring video you'll see today.

The interesting thing is what's behind. TagLabs is currently working on a project called Scansap(R). We are developing our own 3d engine and scan format.

This video shows the small converter we just developed. It only needs 12 seconds on a normal gaming machine to convert an e57 file into our optimized format. Our files are about 60% smaller than the original one without deleting any point. Moreover, its structure is optimized for display.
The e57 files in the list are a mix of 44Mpoints and 28Mpoints scans. 10 scans are converted within 2 minutes. This time includes the e57 reading, the conversion, and the writing on the hard disk (Sata).
The multithreading is not yet optimized.

Impressive speed.

What hard drive was used? I assume an SSD?

Would love to see this on an NVME drive!

Hi,

No, it is on a classical SATA disk. We'll do some benchmarks soon to see the % (loading, conversion, writing) on different storages.
