Does anyone use this unit with success?
I realize that it is no longer available for retail sale. Assuming any kind of support would be difficult.
Is there a workflow that allows limited accuracy.....1"-2"?
Uncomfortable to carry?
Any thoughts on why Occipital has not out with a new version? The structure sensor, ipad lidar, Canvas, and the scan to CAD service are not what I am looking for.
Thank you!

Sorry to answer just now, I trusted someone else would answer you. I use the Px-80, but I was a dealer for this device and still want to sell a piece now. My opinion is not entirely reliable.
Practical advice:
-Don't turn fast! (drift)
-Make loops when scanning, there should be a 2m long section in the same direction when closing.
-4-5 minutes should be a scan, I usually repeat each one once
-40, 50% should be the overlap
-move very slowly between rooms
-if you make drift, in Cloud Compare the .ply format can be split into good sections
-Do noise filtering in cloud compare
-the noise about 3.5 cm in practice

A device to keep your papers on your desk from flying away then. 3.5 cm noise and on the site it says "This LiDAR 3D scanner is suitable for a range of industries including construction, forestry, and manufacturing" LOLAttila wrote: ↑Tue Aug 17, 2021 8:54 am Sorry to answer just now, I trusted someone else would answer you. Possibly one reason why it was discontinued, SLAM technology has moved on past the point where this is acceptable. I'd actually be more worried by the drift than the noise. Plenty of ways to remove noise but data with drift could have gross errors that aren't immediately visible which could be disastrous to the surveyor and their client.landmeterbeuckx wrote: ↑Tue Aug 17, 2021 11:22 amA device to keep your papers on your desk from flying away then. 3.5 cm noise and on the site it says "This LiDAR 3D scanner is suitable for a range of industries including construction, forestry, and manufacturing" LOL

I hope this list of vendors will decrease. They say more companies, more competition means lower prices is certainly not applicable in our industry.smacl wrote: ↑Tue Aug 17, 2021 11:57 amPossibly one reason why it was discontinued, SLAM technology has moved on past the point where this is acceptable. When you go to intergeo and see one hall full off different drone companies i'll always ask myself "how the hell do they earn some money on their products" because as it seems all is lidar only 0,0005% off the works population knows about it and a portion of those people buy the gear.
