Revit couldn't do that !GCFdesign wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2020 8:31 amIt could pretty much do that.mike annear wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2020 8:24 amShow me how you model a boat in Revit .
this is a boat that I modeled in Rhino.
Revit is great for buildings, not cars, boats, planes or anything with a complex surfaces.
Revit is fitting LEGO blocks together with a database to tell you which blocks you have used.
It isn't a true 3D modelling package.
Rhino is used for everything from Jewelery to superyachts.
Blender is also an excellent modelling package, both use the same NURBs engine.
However..Rhino is also used for buildings..

Show me a boat modelled with Revit....
Not just "blocks" available for Revit. (probably modelled in Rhino)
Mike.

Re: Rhino3D + Blender
Excuse me?
Are you here for a good discussion or just to say that Revit is the "superior" software?
I just don't see, what you are trying to archive...

Re: Rhino3D + Blender
And I am pretty sure Revit cant do this...
A plane I modelled in Rhino from scan data..
The whole point of my post was to promote the use of Rhino 3D and Blender as a cheap solution for generating flythrough videos of pointclouds plus models, I will post some videos soon

Re: Rhino3D + Blender
Revit is a modelling tool like any other. Each have their strengths and weaknesses.
To simply suggest that Revit cannot do a 'boat', other than it to be 'square' in nature is incorrect.
I wrote that it can do sinuous forms, however, l did not state it was better than any other software, unlike others!

It is correct. Revit cannot do a 'boat',

It can...and it need not be "square".mike annear wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2020 9:56 am Gary,

You clearly have a problem with Revit and l have no problem with any software. Each such software are tools to be used accordingly for the task at hand, however, just because someone has a 'tool', it does not mean that they know how to use it.
Regarding Rhino, l have not used it, however, l have seen in the right hands, it is a tremendous tool.

Re: Rhino3D + Blender
Gary,
You keep giving me opportunities to promote my own work,
This is the internals of a superyacht modelled from scan data in Rhino 3D.
Revit cant do this !
