Hi all,
Can any recommend any software (ideally free, or Autodesk) that would allow be to extract a splice from a pointcloud. I've got a scan of a tunnel and i'd like to section the tunnel (say every meter) and produce a spline. If there is a workaround my creating a mesh first, thats also an option.
Any ideas?
James

Hi,
Best solution for me : 3d Reshaper with tunnel option.
You create a mesh first, extract axis, and make spline along your axis. Very easy to use and very powerfull !!

Hi James,
I confirm, you can do this within 3DReshaper.
The tool is Polyline / Neutral Axis, which works on both a point cloud and a mesh.
Depending on the noise in the point cloud, it might be worth creating a mesh first.
Once you get the polyline, just convert it to a spline or send it to AutoCAD in one button click
Do not hesitate to get a trial version in order to test!
All the best

Cloud compare does a good job of this and is free.
If you don't see that there is nothing, then you are kidding yourself.
