Hi,
I was hoping someone could simplistically explain how the mantis vision f5 sr works and achieves high tolerance. This is to help explain the technology to a very inquisitive manager from a physics background (heeellllp)
Thanks in advance
Perry

Re: Mantis vision F5 SR
Hi Bill,
The Mantis Vision system uses a single coded-light pattern which contains all the indexing information required by the triangulation algorithm. This is based on Epi-polar coding techniques. Running at 10fps the F5 systems capture 500,000 points per second. The patented algorithms then uses the 2D video and overlaid laser projected coded pattern to produce 3D points for each frame. The 3D frames are then registered to provide a registered point cloud.
The latest B variant of the F5 performs this operation directly onto a Surface Pro or like to allow immediate feedback after scanning has taken place. With the latest addition to the Mantis Vision product line the PocketScan 3D the point cloud is now colourised.
I appreciate this is a high level description of the process, but as this is an open forum, detailed descriptions of the algorithms would need to be had offline. Let me know if you need anything else as we work very closely with the Mantis Vision Team.
