Hello Jason,

I have also tried 3DscannerApp : https://www.3dscannerapp.com/
but more recently I've been using Forge which gives really nice results : https://www.forge.cam/

Both are about 20€/ year if you need to export 3D models, just like Polycam.

Hi Jason,

I can't skip over this without placing an "advert" for our offering. I wouldn't normally do something like this, but as all the following is FREE I don't feel quite so bad! :D

Caveat, our software is all about point clouds and point clouds only.. if you're looking for textured meshes, stop reading...

Zappcha is our mobile point cloud software offering https://www.zappcha.com and is totally free with no adverts or "in app" purchases. Currently it allows you to..

1) Capture up to 100million points in a single scan.
2) Upload and share the scans using our FREE Zappcha cloud services.
3) Load the files into CloudCompare using our FREE plugin.
4) Create HD videos, take measurements, etc, with our FREE Arena4D basic edition.
5) View any size of point cloud captured from any device directly on the iOS device. Want to show a prospective client some of your work, maybe a 10 Billion point cloud? Just load the file on to your phone using iTunes, or up to our cloud services and show them straight on your iPhone or iPad in full detail with no loss of quality or fidelity.

We'll soon be launching a new version with lots of updates and UI tweaks (we'll admit the whole mobile development sphere is a little new to us!). Some things of note will be...

1) Unlimited scan sizes (well as much free space as you have on the device..!)
2) GeoReferenced data (if you want)
3) Active Filtering (The iOS Lidar is quite noisy, and we have a new real-time system which cleans the data as you scan)
4) Extra visualization options (Super Sampling, Gap Filling)
5) Burst Mode (Allows you to take super high resolution point cloud scans of a subject in stages, allowing much more detail capture than normal constant scanning techniques on the iOS devices).

We hope to have this out in the next week or two and it will be FREE..

If you want to take the data into more "serious" software or use our cloud services for other means then we have lots of paid for solutions.. however that is out of scope of this thread and I don't want to derail it..

Hope this is of interest.. we're excited about what the iOS future holds for the industry and we're working hard to stretch the technology to its limits.

Here's a short video of our last update as I'm sure there's things I've forgotten!

Hi Tom,

You've two options. Firstly open the file in CloudCompare and using our plugin export as an e57 or LAS file which you can then import elsewhere. Or open the file in our FREE Arena4D software and also export as an e57 or LAS file.

We keep the file in our native format on the device to save space and for performance. It makes much more sense to "unpack" it into a non-proprietary format off the device and on a decent PC with plenty of disk space.

Many Thanks

Mark

Hi Julien,
Have you seen the one from MOD Tech Labs?
https://www.modtechlabs.com
Companies spend millions of dollars every year making movies, games, and other digital content. The process to create all this can take years, is very complicated, and often requires thousands of people with specialized skills. We use Artificial Intelligence to help these media production companies automate all that intricate, manual work. Our smart one-click systems use real-world images, videos, and scans, to supercharge how they create 3D people, objects, and worlds up to 99% faster.

Hi Jason,

No I haven't tried this one, I am not so interested in AR or small objects so I must say I haven't tried any of this kind of apps.

Hello,

I am conducting a research on the iPhone LiDAR. I compared the LiDAR models created from 3D scanner app and Scaniverse. I found that the LiDAR model created from Scaniverse is in higher quality. For the Scaniverse model, I found that the distance between points are uniformly 5 mm when I scan on the wall. May I know why the point distributed uniformly? In addition, may Iknow the setting of the algorithm behind, do the algorithm alter the scanning scope, resolution, delete noise, filtering outliers or even reorganize the point distribution?
I am so curious on the app because I would like to apply the iPhone LiDAR on surveying.

Field360 from Leica but that doesn't use the images just LIDAR (depth sensor)
