Faro Focus: Too near to objects - what happens?

Post by CanadaRunner »

Lately I studied the specification of the new Faro Focus scanner. There I saw that the minimal object distance has to be 0.6m. My question is know what happens if I cannot place more than 0.6m away (small rooms, corridor…)
Is there a possibility of damaging the laser or do I just didn't get any data?

Hi,

The manufacturer specification told that the surface closer than 60 cm could be deformed. We tried it many time without any deformation or wrong data.

Regards.

I doubt damage is possible in any reasonable scenario.

Typically no data or very noisy data when scanning at very close range should be expected from any "long range" scanner.
