X330 Scanning of Glass Walled Building

Post by KRKV23 »

I will be scanning interior and exterior of a building that has 5 Stories of floor to ceiling glass walls. Last time we ran into registration errors due to so much reflection and false points... Any suggestions on how to minimize this within settings of the scanner? I know there can be cleanup done in the processing portion of the workflow, but looking to try to eliminate as much as possible while scanning. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Rent an old S120. The IR beam plays nicer with glass than the X330. I did scanning in a building that had a lot of glass and mirrors with our X330 and spent forever cleaning reflection (any time it was by a mirror it would 'project' an entire wall of noise a good distance behind the rear facing wall), mirror noise, and glass exit noise clouds out of each scan manually. Depending on how expensive your time is, it would almost certainly be cheaper just to rent an S120 for this particular job, and use your X330 on interior areas or areas where you don't have glass.
