Similar to previous posts, examples in different conditions would be nice.
How does the unit replace a traditional flash?
In our environment, a lot of images we need to take are in near total darkness so this would be a potential reason to not buy the unit.

We use the M-cam from Z+F on our scanner (HDS6100) right now. The camera is attached on the scanner and because the camera is calibrated we don't need to pick point to create the colored scans (Z+F Lasercontrol create these automaticly).
In what way would this camera be more effective? Maybe it's time saving outside but then you have to stich it by hand inside or is there any way this isn't necessary with this camera as well?

Maxim,
It looks the same as in the images, but you just don't get the idea how small it is (10cm x 10cm, x 11cm tall).
There are improvements they are planning for the actual release of the product that should be very good.
(I'll let them say what those are if they want too as I don't want to "let the cat out of the bag").

There are some sample images on available on the iSTAR website, but are in an area which requires user name and password (provided from iSTAR).
I would suggest emailing iSTAR if you wish to view the sample data.
