Has anyone ever used one of these? I'm seeing a demo of one tomorrow and can't believe I didn't see one before. Cheaper than a Faro apparently, but I've no idea of the functionality yet.

Re: Geomaz SPS Zoom 300
I've no practical experience with these but I've been watching with interest since they fist appeared coming out of China via grey market channels.
I was hoping something so inexpensive would come along that it would disrupt the current marketplace, however, I heard a rumour that Hexagon were involved with this system now, does anyone know if that's true?
It looks like its got a very limited field of view and is very slow by current standards. Not having its own interface is not necessarily a bad thing but we work mainly in the petrochem industry where the necessary wifi link to control the thing would never be allowed on site.
Probably depends on your application, I'm sure if you put this alongside a P40 or 5010X then its a piece of junk. Alternatively, you probably couldn't compare this to its similarly priced rivals as there are none? I guess you need to look at this new scanner as an alternative to a used Faro?
My questions to the supplier would be mainly of the what warranty / support is available and exactly what will happen when it needs repairing or calibrating, which of course it will. What files does it export and how does the data integrate into software workflows, Recap / Scene / Cyclone / Proprietary system?
The cameras are not coaxial to the laser, can this be used to color scans and if so, how?
Interested to know what you learn.
Richard.
