STONEX X300

Post by rejean »

I was wondering if anyone can share genuine work experience using this scanner.

Seems a good deal here as we can get it new for 30K CAD.

Initial drawbacks seem to be speed (max 40k/sec) and vertical field of view (90 deg.)

I have rent Stonex X300 and wanted to try. But when I push the Start button, I get the message "003: Unable to start scan". Anybody had this experience? Control menu looks very simple and there is no any possibilities to customize or to insert wrong properties, so I think it is some scanner problem. Stonex support service is unavailable because of Sunday.

Hi Réjean,

Have you bought the scanner?

Who is the Stonex dealer in Québec?

Thanks

Hello,

I am a solo Surveying firm and may be looking to add a scanner to the fleet this year. Some of the Geomax and Stonex 300 series scanners are coming into the used market at attractive prices(along with many of the other brands). I am having a heck of a time finding user experiences for these models on this site or elsewhere on the X300 or SPS Zoom 300, which must be the same thing? The lack of info tells me that they are either good or bad, people are avoiding being negative on them or hiding their value for proprietary reasons? Are there other used scanners coming in that would work for small commercial site and roadway surveys?

I am trying to avoid the high costs and subscription fees of the Survey scanning market leaders. I don't have a year's salary laying around for a scanner and the software/firmware subscription fees. Also, since many of the scanners coming into the used market are approaching a decade in age, what type of lifetime can be expected.

Thanks for your assistance!
