We finally received all the software components to wifi connect our 2ea Z+F 5010X Scout enabled scanners with our 2 ea Dot Product DPI-8 scanners.
I did a quick test of a single scan of a room with some trash placed in front of a display rack. The test was to see how well the DPI-8 scanner could capture the objects in the display rack which could not be seen from the 5010X scanner position.
I did not have the time to produce a tutorial, but the workflow is listed below.
1. Scan the room with 5010X (single scan, about 6 minutes, including images)
2. Scan trash area with DPI-8 (about 1-2 minutes)
3. Scan from 5010X automatically downloads by wifi to Dell M6800 running Z+F Scout (v8.8.0.17537)
4. Scan from DPI-8 is uploaded by wifi FTP to 5010X using version of Phi3D_2.0.3_ZF_FTP_3.apk
5. The DPI-8 scan is automatically downloaded to the current 5010X project.
6. The DPI-8 scan is manually registered with 5010X scan using 5010X Scout.
The question is whether it is more efficient to manually transfer all the DPI-8 scans after the project is totally registered or to transfer them automatically using the wifi FTP.
We also did not use any targets for this test, which we normally always use.

Re: Testing and Review of the DotProduct Scanner
Eugene,
That looks great! The best part about this dotproduct system is that it works seamlessly with our IMAGER 5010X and LaserControl Scout software. The DotProduct handheld can ftp the scan straight from their tablet onto our IMAGER 5010X. Once that is completed, you can perform a fine registration with our LaserControl Scout software. This can all be registered in the field with our new scanner and software. Pretty awesome stuff. I would love to get you an IMAGER 5010X to try out.
Sincerely,
Jeremy Clements

You know I am sooo going to take you up on that offer...It's even written and officially recorded on the forum now.
I think I'll be seeing you next month at SPAR so we should have a chat then.

Re: Testing and Review of the DotProduct Scanner
For those unfamiliar with the operation of the DotProduct scanner, I did a short video review and demo on its operation...nothing fancy, but should give you a decent idea of how it all comes together.

Re: Testing and Review of the DotProduct Scanner
Here are some scans from an underground parking lot...Each scan took less than a minute to capture. I was just playing around as I had a FARO scanner going in the background.

Re: Testing and Review of the DotProduct Scanner
We just received our Kick LED lights for the DPI-8. I do not know if others have posted examples of the DPI-8 with lights in very dark environments.

Hi Dennis, please see below for a video of capture in complete darkness, as well as a link to the data. Nothing darker than a Vegas hotel room with all the shades down!
