Beware GEOSLAM users!

Post by Ioannis »

Hi John,

Thank you for your email.

We no longer support ZEB1 scanners, unfortunately. This is been for more than 3 years as there were lots of changes for the licencing system and the software which are not compatible with the ZEB1 unit.

End of August we have also discontinued the web platform where users could upload and process their scans there.

Please, kindly advice the end user to update the product so we can be able to help them with any sort of issues there might have either with the scans or anything else.

Many thanks!!

Until now we have a zeb1 unit that worked perfect with geoslam credits and Geoslam revo rt with desktop software.
We are thinking to add a Zeblocate and Horizon to our tools, but after we received that email we are not able to invest to them anymore.
Beware Geoslam users you are a slave to Geoslam policy!
After some years maybe they stop to update or support revo devices. So the devices that you buy today maybe in some years are rubbish.

Very sad behaviour! We used zeb1 in some projects as it was in perfect condition..but now is rubbish.
It’s ok we are going to invest our 50.000 euro ( Zeb locate) to another company!!

Ah this post reminds me of a similar discussion about FARO devices.

I can totally understand all sides.
Would be interesting to hear the thoughts of the folks here at the forum.
I think I will start a survey

A small company put funds into a device in order to make a profit for the next 5-15 years. (let's take that in 5 years μαεκ depreciation of the equipment).
Why have total stations like Trimble and Leica worked like a workhorse for 20 years now?
And what is the difference between a manual total station towards a new one and nothing? only the data collector.
And why Trimble Leica still serviced them after 20 years? Maybe companies want only profit now!

It is a serious downside of any pay as you go hardware and software solution. If the vendor pulls support for the product you're using you can be left very exposed.
