Lowering a Revo into a 30m pit

Post by GeoSurvey »

Hi Guys,

Anyone know if it would be possible to lower a Revo into a pit to a depth of 25m-30m, unmanned? Is it possible to get a power cable that extends to 30m for the Revo? Has anyone tried this before?

Cheers,
Ian

I would say your best bet would be to lower the scanner and logger all together, if possible. A 30m cable to go from the scanner to the logger would be quite expensive.

Yes this can work but obviously depends on the size of pit and amount of geometry available for the slam. We actually sell a cradle specifically for lowering the Revo and logger together or you could build something yourself. The longest power cable we do is 5m. We have scanned inside some bridge pillars using this method that are 30-40m deep and scan are great. Hope this helps.

Cheers

Hello Ian,

We have a specialist device for this very purpose, it's called the ZEB Cradle. Basically you attach the datalogger & REVO onto the cradle and lower it all down together. This was first trialed over 1 year ago on a bridge structure void, and it worked perfectly - depth was approx. 25m.

If you'd like to know more, drop us an email at [email protected] or [email protected]

Cheers!
