Re: IAFSM-ACSR Joint Conference 2022
Algorithms between all the scanners and registration software's are so different. Honestly I'd sooner try and train a brand new user to use Register360 then try and train a person with Scene background to use Register360... Faro users trying to convert to Leica is such a hurdle. I cross it weekly, and the methods of work are so different. The registration software also affects the field procedures. So to blanket cerify a scanner operator is not really good. And I have only mentioned Leica and Faro here, never mind Surphaser, Artec, Topcon, Optech, Carlson and every other flavor out there.dcacioppo wrote: ↑Wed Jul 14, 2021 9:50 pm We are happy to announce that FSM, along with the Association for Crime Scene Reconstruction (ACSR) will be holding a live, in-person conference February 14-18, 2022 in Denver, CO, USA. Really need software and hardware specific certifications.
Without great understanding of the algorithms of each software package it is IMHO impossible to certify a user as a blanket laser scanner. They would need be certified independently for each software separately. To run the scanners in the field is the simple part. But the registration and processing parameters are the wild card. I always hate this topic, especially between Leica and Faro users, as the two manufacturers work so differently. And the software is the huge hurdle.

The primary goal of the Basic Laser Scanning Certification course is to provide a foundation andRJGEOMATICS wrote: ↑Wed Jul 28, 2021 10:12 pmAlgorithms between all the scanners and registration software's are so different.
