Pointfuse
It's hard to find a good conversion solution from point cloud to standard cad formats.
Pointcab works great but you have a lot of work when it's start to vectorize…
Revit etc. same problem.
Pointfuse seems promising, we are looking for a quick solution to create standard 2D floorplans of point cloud scans for teh real estate…anybody have experience with this software ? We have a faro focus scanner, it can import natively fls files.
cheers !

Re: Pointfuse
Hi Vincent,
I never used pointfuse either.
Which CAD are you working with? Microstation, AutoCAD, BricsCAD?
If you work with AutoCAD you might want to check out PointSense Building:

Re: Pointfuse
Hi
Pointfuse Free is available for download now.
It allows to convert point clouds to 3D vector models and view the results, Pointfuse Lite will allow you to export the vectors in DXF and IFC format, it also has some tools to allow you create 2D elevations, plans and sections without having to draw them.
Pointfuse Pro will be available at Spar Europe which we will have an evaluation license available for this way you can test it with your data and see how it can help your workflow.
We will also be releasing some updates over the coming weeks so keep an eye on the website, or let me know if you have any question if not I'll look forward to seeing some of you at Spar in December.

Re: Pointfuse
Hi Mark,
testing the free version right now. Imported project with app.20 scans in FLS. It only allows me to process the first scan. Is it part of the free version restriction or am I doing something wrong?
Thanks
Jiri

Re: Pointfuse
Hi Jiri
Pointfuse Free and Lite allow you set up your project tree but only allow you to convert one file at a time, the Pro version allows you set batch processes running with different setting for individual scans or groups of scans.
We are trying to accommodate light users of scanning technology as well as those of you that scan on a regular basis.

Re: Pointfuse
Mark,
thank you for yor answer. So it treats each scan individually in LITE and PRO version use all scans and fits the vectors to merged pointcloud? Or is it possible to create one lets say PTS file of all 20 scans and have it run by pointfuse as single merged pointcloud?
Sorry for so many questions...
Regards
Jiri

Re: Pointfuse
I downloaded the free point fuse.
I created a single laz file of a scan of an exterior, with a garden (500 million points).
The file imported in Pointfuse but when adding it to view the system crashed.
I decimated to 44 millions with the same problems, and it worked with a gardenless decimated 13 million points cloud.
I have a win7x64, 32 Gb RAM and a quadro 2000D.
From the demo pointfuse should handle much bigger clouds.
Any suggestion?
Thanks in advance,
Massimo
