I am looking at comparing a point cloud to a CAD object / mesh, and Cloud Compare does a really nice analysis for me. The problem that I'm having is to do with the difference legend. I'd like to be able to classify the differences to the CAD model or mesh in sensible steps (or ranges) i.e.
0.04 - 0.05
0.03 - 0.04
0.02 - 0.03
0.01 - 0.02
0.00 - 0.01
0.00 - -0.01
-0.01 - -0.02
-0.02 - -0.03
-0.03 - -0.04
-0.04 - -0.05
What I get makes sense and looks good, but the steps between the values in the legend are determined by the range of values in the data. Is there a way to classify the difference map into different ranges?
It would be nice to be able to alter the 'nominal range' - say for example that differences between +/-5cm were unimportant, we could colour them green. And then have 5cm steps in our difference legend.
This image shows what I'd like to achieve on the right hand side...

Re: Scalar Field
Hi,
In the latest beta version, you can now define a custom list of labels for each color ramp: This can only be done with 'custom' color ramps. So you'll have to duplicate one of the default ramps first.
The beta version can be downloaded from the website:

Re: Scalar Field
Thanks for that - I'm really impressed with Cloud Compare. This is the first time that I've really had a look at the software - I was prompted to try it because of the new animation feature and have been surprised by all the great functions that it has
