High resolution mesh texture maps?

Discuss Veesus software here, including those for Arena4D and the plug-ins for SolidWorks and Rhino.

High resolution mesh texture maps?

Post by jedfrechette »

I know Arena4D can load mesh models in various formats. I'm wondering though about texture map support. Specifically, if I have a mesh with high resolution textures as either UDIM tiles or PTEX can Arena4D display them?

Hi Jed,

Sorry, I've only just seen this post!

We can load texture mapped models, but as there's such a wide variety out there (and which we support) then I can't confirm 100% either way whether we can load your specific models.

If you can share an example with me then we can do some testing here at base. If it doesn't load then I can get our 3D CAD engine guru on the case to make it work.

Many Thanks

Mark

Here's a couple of articles with good info:

PTEX is kind of its own thing. Disney provides a number of sample files along with the open source API and utilities:

UDIM is really just a naming convention for multipart tiled texture maps (in any file format) so that the render can automatically load them in to the correct UV space location.
