slow processing

Post by Pajosh2 »

Hi, I am processing 400GB (80scans in E57 from rafinery) pointcloud in TrimbleEdgewise, just pipes. It is taking so looooong-10 days.
TEW runing on 2xXenon with 4 SSD, RAM128GB.
TEW utilize only 8-11 percent.
How can I speed it up? Thanx. P.

Problem solved - run as many EW as possible for your HW, you get fast wanted derivates. You can merge derivates but pointcloud not yet. PG

decimate your point cloud. You don't need all those points to create pipes, beams and walls. I usually export from Scene every 5th row and every 5th column for edgewise. This is plenty of points.

+1 on decimation. As brian715 said, you don't need full point cloud density to extract pipes and other stuff...

Hi all,

when decimating in Cyclone core (vanilla), what settings do users recommend for extracting steel structure and pipes?
