The discontinuity-based sampling is mostly for highlighting edges in the point cloud. There is a newer tool called Spatial Sampling (Keep Details) which is much more effective. If you have point cloud data that is in a TZF file format or can be converted to TZF then I would suggest using this option.

Ive only just seen this reply - thank you Jason.

That explains the edge function, but what about the gap? I thought this could be a way of cleaning/point filtering since Realworks doesnt seem to have much of this capability besides manual cleaning post registration.
