3D Scanning Meets 3D Printing Video

Post by Eliot R »

Hey guys,

Merging 3D scanning with 3D printing has huge potential upsides for the built environment. These experts from MasterGraphics and Pepper Construction discuss the benefits and workflow improvements resulting from laser scanning and BIM as it relates to constructing and renovating buildings. The video also features a 3D scanned office space and provides a glimpse into where these experts think the industry and technology is heading.

Been talking about how 3D scanning feeds 3D printing for years. Here are two presentations I gave at two of the FARO Documentation conferences in the past several years. They are easy to flip thru with lots of graphics.

Michael,

Those are great presentations - lots of great nuggets of information. I particularly enjoyed the breakdown of the "Gartner Hype Cycle." It is interesting that these technologies have been around for so long, but are receiving so much hype in the last years. Do you think it is because it is becoming more cost effective?
