Lidar Velodyne VLP 16

Post by ludiga »

Hello guys,
I head the Velodyne Lidar VLP 16.
The lidar interfaces with the software Veloview to record frames and create the file pcap.
Now the point is this, from pcap files I can export all frames into individual csv file, so I end up with thousands of csv file!!!
How can I merge all the csv file? or I can process it by pcap to have a file LAS or other?
The velodyne has Garmin GPS 19x HVS, with PPS to a 1 hz.
I tried playing with the software wireshark but nothing.
I gave the timestamp for every frame.

Thanks a lot

Use powershell for instance

Code: Select all

Get-Content *.csv | Set-Content output.txt

Do you have a sample pcap file you can share with us, and highlight the frames you wish to parse out. A simple VB app maybe able to help here... ;)

Or you maybe able to save the data out of VeloView as sequential *.vtp files. Import them into ParaView, and then export out as a single *.csv.... worth investigating.

I don't think Cloudcompare or FME can import pcap files, but it would be good to know for sure. Ideally you want VeloView to capture the data in real-time and save into a database.... then you can export whatever you like.

Hope this helps...
