While bringing in projects from Scene 6.0 the real views are messed up, i.e with black borders around objects, black background etc.. (screen shot attached).
These pictures are fine when viewed in scene.
Any ideas on what's the issue.

Re: Cartoonish Real views
That looks like a filter is removing edge noise from the scan data.
If you don't see that there is nothing, then you are kidding yourself.

It does look like that, but I am not using any filters, neither in Scene nor changing any filter settings in RecapMatt Young wrote:That looks like a filter is removing edge noise from the scan data.

Re: Cartoonish Real views
I know in the early days of Recap when they were working mostly with Faro data we saw automatic edge cleaning going on, even without setting any filter. We had very clearly documented cases of this. Might still be happening down somewhere in the code.

Re: Cartoonish Real views
Are Scene's default filters doing it and just getting rid of "spray" from edges?

Re: Cartoonish Real views
Thanks for posting this - this is a serious issue and I've been meaning to post a notification on LSF. This is a major regression in version 6 of the FARO SDK (used by ReCap to load FLS/FWS/LSPROJ).
You're not seeing extra filtering; rather, points which had no return (due to mixed pixels or sky) are showing as black. These points have always been filtered (probably on the hardware) - but they usually come through the SDK with valid RGB data (and hence a much better looking RealView). The SDK is also omitting the angle measurements for these points, which can cause ReCap to compute an incorrect resolution for the RealView. This should not affect your 3D point cloud in ReCap.
We first saw this issue several weeks ago, and have connected w/ FARO engineering directly. There are a few other bugs in this SDK which affect ReCap (and likely other products) as well. I'm told a hotfix is planned directly.
For now we are recommending that customers avoid using this SDK with ReCap.

Re: Cartoonish Real views
This should be fixed in FARO's latest SDK. Please give it a try and let us know.
