Nvidia Titan and Clouds2Max

Post by ddustin »

We just ordered 2 Nvidia Titan video cards to run on our workstations.

Once they arrive and we have the opportunity to test them, we will advise as to their performance in 3ds Max and more specifically, how they handle large scans.

Sounds good....I understand it performs approx 10x faster than its predecessor and has 6Gb RAM!
Will you test in other apps too?

Jason,
I will test with a few other programs, but mainly Max.
Some of our cases involve millions of Polys, particularly if we add blades of grass or high polygon trees.

thanks,

How is the titan running? Also I noticed a direct x failure when my tech ran a test. He has not found the solution.

I am running a

P9X79 motherboard

GTX 780 titan

Ram is 32 capable to 64

Processor is i7 5gt/s 15MB

The hard drives my tech told me that the standard 7200 drives are faster and more relaiable than the SSHD. He explained his logic that the SSHD transistors start to fail after so many switches and eventually you have a failure rate faster based on the processes.

Of course the cooler and power supply are important.

The power supply you want to look for Wattage but also enough voltage. Most china models for gamers are not adequate for these systems are essentially a low cost gimmick.
