Re: Cloud Compare - new version.
That is really good news! it means you don't need to buy the importer module for Cyclone!
If you don't see that there is nothing, then you are kidding yourself.

Re: Cloud Compare - new version.
Does Cloud Compare allow for registration using targets?
If so then I really need to check this software out again. It would certainly be a huge cost saving not to need the importer module for Cyclone

Re: Cloud Compare - new version.
Hi all,
Mike you beat me to the punch . I was going to announce this new release with - in addition to Faro files support - new methods, tons of enhancements and bug fixes. The whole list is here:
http://www.cloudcompare.org/release/notes/20141026/
I forgot to tell it in the newsletter so I'll take this occasion to announce that I will be in Orlando next month for the IAFSM conference (http://www.iafsm.org/conference) where I'll animate a 2 hours workshop about CC. I hope I'll be able to meet some of you there. All this thanks to Eugene Liscio and the IAFSM!
I should make me a homemade "CloudCompare" t-shirt to help people recognize me...
Daniel
P.S. to answer James question: not really, you can only make C2C registration by picking equivalent points in each cloud (I mean you can only register two clouds at a time, and there's no automatic detection of particular targets). In fact detecting spheres (semi-)automatically would be quite easy and would increase the accuracy a lot. I just don't know how complex multi-cloud registration algorithms are.

Re: Cloud Compare - new version.
We're really pleased you can make it to conference. The list of speakers is pretty wide ranging, and typified by Daniel's input.
We are still accepting registrations so head over to http://www.iafsm.org/conference for information. Dates are 12-14 Nov in Orlando

Re: Cloud Compare - new version.
CloudCompare now supports DotProduct .dp files.
You can have a look at the latest beta version: http://www.cloudcompare.org/release/Clo ... bin_x64.7z (you'll need 7zip to unzip it.)
Since .dp files are 1/50th the size of PTS or PTX so the gain is substantial.

Indeed
There's also a 32 bits version: http://www.cloudcompare.org/release/Clo ... bin_x86.7z
(I couldn't edit CC's download webpage due to an issue with the web host account but it should be fixed now. I'll edit it asap)
