Looking for info and tips of building mobile scanning system
We are planning to survey metro subway tunnels for examination of the after-build structures and facilities inside. We consider to adopt the mobile solution, which is to place the scanner on a mobile vehical, rather than perform scanning station by station. We are looking for more information of how to build the system and what are its tips. Thanks.

Dear Prof Zhou
This information might be coming a little late, but it might be interesting for you to look at the Z+F Profiler 9012. It can scan up to 200 profiles/sec, has a full 360° field of view and a range of up to 119m. It is very well suited for railway applications, as shown in this case (http://www.lko.com/). You can link it to various external sensors and adopt it to your system directly via our SDK. Please feel free to drop me an email, should you require more information.
Kind regards,
Christoph Held

Re: Looking for info and tips of building mobile scanning sy
Hi, Christoph,
I apologize that I'm looking at this forum late.
I have looked at your site and found very interesting that you have many applications. Honestly, you might be able to look for business opportunity in techinical services in China through some partnership.
I have purchased Faro Focus3D scanner and find it is not very suitable for mobile scanning except its conpact size. Maybe next project I will consider Z&F's.
Could I have your further information about mobile scanning system? I wonder if your SDK could be used for Faro's system ? Hope to have more discussion with you.

Scanning the tunnel is one thing and there are many existing mobile mapping systems on the market which can do the job. More important question is what software are you going to use to process the resultant point cloud to fulfill the main goal of the project? Did you think of that?
We have recently developed an unique system for examination of mine shafts structures which are generally much more complex than any railway/subway tunnel. If you are interested to find out more please drop me an email.
I attached one of the pictures for illustration purposes.
Regards
Sergey
