I'm looking for advice on computer specs for Geomagic. I rented a Faro Edge with the HD LLP and scanned some parts. I discovered afterwards that the default settings for the scanner produced an astronomically high point count. Trying to filter the data on the Dell M6800 laptop I was using was impossibly slow.
If I were to purchase a new computer, either a laptop (preferably) or desktop, what would you recommend for situations where I need to filter or anything else that takes some computing power?

Re: Best computer specs for Geomagic?
Hate to tell you Jared, we have several machines with 24 cores and 192GB of memory for processing data like this in Geomagic, and PolyWorks and others. That new FARO HD LLP scanner is absolutely amazing in what it can scan and how much data you can acquire. If you would like to talk about what would be more realistic requirements, happy to connect you with our guys that know best. We've been using FARO scanners and Geomagic for years.

I will contact your company this week. The benefit of your experience with point cloud processing would be very valuable to me.
