I think that the image quality is like first gopro. Fisheye lens has really bad quality on the edges and it can be seen here. I think that more lenses with narrow field of view would work better.
But it cost few times less then istar.

I was going to buy one just for myself and to do family photos, landscapes etc
Of course I would try to experiment with it along with doing scanning .Just need to design proper extention.
My biggest concern is that the central axes of lenses are not facing towards center of the camera body.
Would this cause any mismatch when trying to overlay cube maps onto point cloud ? even if the height of camera will be correctly offset to match the center of rotary mirror of scanner.
