software for publishing scans on the internet

Post by Liesbeth Buyck »

God day

For a real estate agent we have scanned a building of 3 levels. the meaning is that this agent put the scans on his website so that visitors can walk though the building in order to visit every level/room.
There is no need for a movie, but the visitor needs to 'jump' for scan to scan.
Which software can helps me to integrate the scans on the internet?

thanks

Hi Lisbeth.

Assuming you are using SCENE software, you could do that with the free of cost SCENE WebShare.
Once a project is readily processed, just export the data into a WebShare project.
You client may install the WebShare server software on his internet server.

You may find a webinar recording about WebShare and the server here:

A demo installation showing a few sample project can be found here:

Hope that helps.

Best regards,

Alternatively you could import the data to Cyclone and use Cyclone Publisher to generate TruViews which offers both measurement capability and the ability to import and display model information also.

The end user only needs the Leica TruView plug-in (which it prompts them to download when they first try and access an online TruView) and then they can measure, mark-up and annotate the data. You can also embed hyperlinks to movies, pictures or any external document which might be useful to your client.

Please contact your local Leica team who can issue you with a trial license if you would like to try this out for yourself.

You don't state the purpose of the web viewing, but, if it is for visualization only I would choose a more bandwidth friendly viewer like QuickTime or Flash. These can be made with the panoramic photography taken by the scanner or from stitched together screenshots of point cloud data if no photography is available. Any number of web scripting options can be used to link from a map to each ScanWorld or between ScanWorlds. While it will remove measurement and point cloud selection tools available in the earlier posts, it will free end users from having to use a specific browser and needing to have install permission for application plug-ins (and dramatically increase download speeds).
