Using 3D Laser Scanning for Boat Building and Retrofit

Friday, November 5, 2010 - 1:00pm - 2:00pm Eastern; 12:00 Noon - 1:00pm Central

3D modeling and 3D laser scanning is an exciting new technology that’s rapidly changing the way we plan and understand our environments. As manufacturers constantly aim to improve efforts to design and build new boats, or retrofit aging vessels, they are increasingly turning to 3D modeling and 3D laser scanning to better create early-stage physical prototypes and reverse-engineer replacement parts for fixes and modifications to existing boats—in the process saving both time and money.

In collaboration with SPAR Point Group, a firm that closely studies the 3D marketplace, WorkBoat has created a webinar that will demonstrate how the use of this new technology is an opportunity to bring laser-scanning and workboat professionals together for faster, more efficient, and safer new-builds, retrofit, and repair projects.

Panelists will include:
• Gregory T. Dobson, Ph.D.
University of New Orleans-NCAM, NASA Michoud Assembly Facility
• Stephen Phillips Jr. LSIT
Survey Project Manager / HDS Geomatics Specialist, White Shield, Inc.
• Jack Richter, Founder
Photo Measurement Solutions
